I am a Humanist celebrant living in North Hampshire.
I am a celebrant, currently focusing on non-religious funeral and memorial ceremonies in Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire, although I can travel further. To me, a funeral or a memorial is a person’s one chance to say a ‘good’ farewell to their loved one. I believe that ‘good grief’ is possible, and it can be helped by organising the right send-off.
As a non-religious person, I decided to train with Humanists UK, and I am happy to carry out any non-religious ceremony. I believe that having a ceremony grounded in nature and honouring the person can be very fulfilling to bereaved people and can help them to accept their loss.
Funerals
For the living, a funeral is where we literally and symbolically say goodbye to our loved ones. Carrying out their wishes is crucial to helping us feel we have done our best.
Memorials
Having a memorial, especially when there has been no formal funeral enables loved ones to experience closure and can help them grieve. It can also be a great way to celebrate their loved one’s life in their own authentic way.
